Gold prices have increased in the local market. The price of gold has risen by Tk 3,847 per bhori, effective from 10:00 am on Thursday, August 20. With the new pricing, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 240,628 per bhori.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the information in a notice issued on Thursday, August 20.
According to the notice, the adjustment in gold prices was made due to an increase in the price of Tejabi gold (pure gold) in the local market.
According to the new prices:
- 22-carat gold: Tk 240,546 per bhori
- 21-carat gold: Tk 229,781 per bhori
- 18-carat gold: Tk 197,355 per bhori
- Traditional method: Tk 161,196 per bhori
The notice also stated that a government-mandated 5% VAT and a minimum wage charge of 6% set by BAJUS must be added to the selling price of gold. However, the making charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
